Lard Skincare Products

Why Lard?

For centuries, lard has been used for many things, including skincare. Lard is the perfect moisturizer, locking in key vitamins and minerals while also protecting and healing all skin types.

As the largest organ in our body, our skin is the first line of defense against pathogens. Lard is very similar to the make up of our own skin; easily absorbing all of the Omega-3's, Vitamins E, A and D in the lard. Lard is naturally an antimicrobial, antibacterial, and anti-fungal. We have seen our lard products heal many skin aliments; from minor dry skin to eczema, cuts, scrapes, and sunburns, rashes and bug bites, even scars and wrinkles. Safe to use for all ages, we use only our products for ourselves, including our children since birth.

Our process is simple. We hand render lard from pigs raised solely on pasture. To do this we heat raw pig fat in our home crockpot and allow it to cool. Lard is a scentless, white substance that is semi-hard at room temperature and can last for several months in the refrigerator. Not only do we use this lard for skin care products, we also use it for cooking! (Is your current face cream natural enough to eat?) I have been cooking exclusively with lard for years. Not only is it healthier than synthetic, plant oil alternatives that are shipped all across the world and adds pollutants on its way, it also adds tons of flavor and body to our meals.

For soap we hand mix the lard with food grade lye, natural clay, and therapeutic grade essential oils in small batches. We never use fragrance oils. To ensure skin safety, the last step is to cure the Lather Lard Soap for 6 full weeks before it becomes a sellable product.
